BANES Therapies Team are looking to recruit an experienced clinical psychologist to join our team on a 12 month fixed-term post, which could be a secondment within AWP. You will be joining a multi-disciplinary service which includes a group of experienced and capable clinicians who recently won an AWP Award for Clinical Excellence. The team has an excellent reputation and has a diverse set of skills and experience, including clinical psychologists, art therapists, a CBT therapist, occupational therapists amongst others. This role will focus on delivering clinical psychology interventions to adults of working age.
We specialize in delivering high quality interventions to people in need of secondary care mental health services and we are an age-inclusive service. The ideal person for this post will be compassionate, dedicated, ethical and enthusiastic about improving people’s lives – both for our patients and our staff. We would particularly welcome applications from individuals with clinical psychology expertise delivering interventions to people with complex mental health needs, particularly people who have experienced complex trauma.
Clinical work: As an experienced clinician, you will be delivering evidence-based psychological interventions based on NICE guidelines, assisting colleagues on formulation and planning of care, provision of therapeutic groups (various approaches), and supervision and training of staff in various teams within the Bath locality. Within this post you will have opportunities to develop your therapeutic skills and we have a broad range of knowledge, skills and interests across the team, including trauma-focused interventions, CBT, DBT, systemic therapy, psychodynamic and mentalisation-based therapy. Accordingly you will be joining a rich source of expertise with clinicians who are respected across the Trust. Applicants with training and experience of delivering Trauma-focused CBT, EMDR, Cognitive Analytic Therapy or CBT would be welcomed. Supervision is highly valued in the team and you will be supported to identify appropriate supervision either within the locality or more widely across the Trust.
Supervision and management: Supporting your colleagues will be part of this role and you will offer supervision and possibly some line-management responsibilities for a small number of staff. Your role will involve supporting our twin goals of achieving our performance targets as well as fostering positive staff wellbeing. You will also be expected to routinely offer placements to trainees from the Clinical Psychology Training Programme at the University of Bath and potentially contribute to the programme in further ways.
Leadership: The team has an ethos of continuously improving and as an experienced clinician you will be expected to contribute to and support our service improvement work. In addition, the role may require you to deliver training, represent the Team at meetings and model good working practices and self-compassion to encourage wellbeing within the team.
Is this role for me? If you are a clinical psychologist who is passionate about achieving our twin aims of providing the highest quality care for our patients and supporting the wellbeing of our staff, then we would welcome your application. In return, you will be well-supported in your role and you will be joining a team of caring and professional colleagues. We are a friendly and welcoming team and would be happy to arrange a visit or have a discussion on the phone prior to the interview in order for you to get a flavour of the work that we are doing and the opportunities that are available. This would be an excellent opportunity for an established Band 7 clinical psychologist to develop their skills and gain valuable experience of working in an 8a position.
