Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust (AWP) provides inpatient and community-based mental health care for people living in Bath and North East Somerset (B&NES), Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Swindon and Wiltshire. We also provide specialist services extending throughout the south west.

We employ over 4,000 dedicated members of staff who deliver services from more than 90 locations, working in approximately 150 teams across a geographical region of 2,200 miles, for a population of approximately 1.8million people.

We are passionate about promoting good mental health and wellbeing. We strive to use the expertise and resources within our organisation, and through our partnerships, to deliver high quality services that are safe and focused on people's recovery. Our staff are pivotal in everything we do and we are committed to involving them fully in the development of the Trust and our services.

The Riverside Adolescent Unit in Bristol is a specialist CAMHS service providing assessment, care and treatment for young people who have complex mental health problems.

The Unit offers in-patient care alongside a therapeutic day programme and provides a safe and nurturing environment for young people to work through emotional and psychological difficulties.

This post offers a real opportunity for personal and professional development. The post holder will be able to work across the Team in delivering the highest standard of care for the young people who attend the Unit. This will include being the Safeguarding Lead for the Unit and developing our practice with young people in need. You will work with outside agencies and build links with children and young people’s services. You will also work to develop Unit links within AWP Trust.

It is essential for candidates to hold a relevant Social Work Qualification, and to demonstrate knowledge of processes and systems relating to the care of young people. You will have knowledge of how mental health issues affect young people, and experience of working with people with complex needs.

We are also looking for applicants who have the interpersonal qualities that both the Trust and Riverside value in our service, as it is a priority for us to maintain the exceptional team that we have at Riverside. These include high levels of commitment, resilience, positivity and personal warmth as well as the ability to communicate in a direct and assertive manner, be an excellent team player and have a personal and professional ethos which fits with that of the Unit.

The Riverside Adolescent Unit is part of Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership Trust and promotes the values and aspirations it holds in seeking to provide an excellent service of care.
