Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust (AWP) is a significant provider of high quality mental health services across a core catchment area covering Bath and North East Somerset (B&NES), Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Swindon and Wiltshire. The Trust also provides specialist services for a wider catchment extending throughout the south west.
Our aim is to enable and empower people to reach their potential and to live fulfilling lives through providing recovery and reablement focused services that yield positive outcomes for our service users and their carers.
Specifically, The Trust provides services for people with mental health needs, with needs relating to drug or alcohol dependency and mental health services for people with learning disabilities. We also provide secure mental health services and work with the criminal justice system.
Increasingly AWP provides treatment and care in people's own homes and other community settings, reflecting the preferences of our service users. Our community services are supported by high quality inpatient services that provide short term assessment, treatment and care.

Funding covers the costs of the first two years of the pre-clinical training (Observation Course fees plus cost of analysis in Year2 – but not travel). At this time there is no salary although in some circumstance there may be the possibility of being employed as an assistant in Year 2.
The appointee will need to apply to the Tavistock Clinic in Year 2 for the clinical training. This is a separate process. If unsuccessful funding will cease at this point. If successful you will be funded for the 4 year clinical training (course fees (based on those charged by the Tavistock Clinic); analysis; salary as a trainee based on working 0.8 wte at Band 7; travel to and from the Tavistock on a day release basis in term time).
Applicants will need to be graduates with an honours degree and already have a place on a Tavistock Observation Course (if in Year 2 already then they would undertake the Advanced Individual Programme at the Tavistock in 2018-19)
You are encouraged to contact Paul Barrows (Professional Lead) 0117 919 0330 for further details / informal visits and to check your pre-qualifications before applying.
