Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for three  housekeepers with a passion and desire to deliver a high quality service, to join our friendly and dynamic team at Blackberry Hill Hospital.

You must have excellent communication and organisational skills. You must also be able to work independently as well as part of a team, to ensure that a safe environment is maintained for a good service user experience.

You will be working together with the senior team to ensure that the service maintains a high standard of cleanliness.


Main duties of the job

Cleaning in all areas to the agreed NHS specification (including but not limited to National Standards of Cleanliness, CQC outcomes and PLACE, and in line with local schedules. Areas will include but not be limited to service user bedrooms, communal areas, sanitary areas, clinic rooms, kitchens, offices, corridors. To replenish stocks of disposable items, i.e.: paper hand towels, soap. Working in accordance with all relevant Health and safety procedures at all times e.g. COSHH, Manual Handling

Some handling of chilled and frozen food for regeneration oven on the wards and also security of housekeeping supplies whilst in use on the ward.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

We have key responsibilities working as part of the Housekeeping team and apart from the practical nature of these roles, communication with colleagues at all levels whilst going about our duties is paramount because of the important jobs we do, to make sure we are meeting national standards and that we are safe and those around us are also.

Person specification

basic numeracy and language (Understanding), will be assessed at interview.

Essential criteria
  • Able to follow a written schedule of work
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate & COSSH Awareness
  • Able to demonstrate a good understanding of confidentiality
  • Basic numeracy skills

Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of Housekeeping Duties
  • Previous experience of use of cleaning equipment
  • Previous experience of Catering Duties
