A really exciting opportunity has arisen for experienced Registered Mental Health Professionals  to join the Advice and Support, Custody and Court (ASCC) Service.

The successful applicants will be one of the following: a Registered Mental Health Nurse, Learning Disability Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker trained in Mental Health.

The post holder will be required to work in police custody units and Magistrates and Crown Courts throughout the Trust region though predominantly Bristol. The role requires the assessment of vulnerable adults who have been detained by the Constabulary who may require mental health intervention, a court screening report and/or diversion to other services

This role is focused on working closely to support the police ensure the most effective pathway is followed when police detain people in custody who may be vulnerable or suffering mental health problems.

The aim of the role is to facilitate the following:

• Improved communication as a result of Partnership working

• Improved police confidence in dealing with persons suffering with Mental Health issues

• Faster response to deal with those suffering from Mental Health problems

• Improved information sharing between agencies

• Improved patient outcomes and experience

• Improved working relationships between Police and Health services

• Direct access to Mental Health services

You will be a Mental Health professional who is able to work with individuals experiencing mental health crisis and extreme emotional distress.
