Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust (AWP) provides inpatient and community-based mental health care for people living in Bath and North East Somerset (B&NES), Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Swindon and Wiltshire. We also provide specialist services extending throughout the south west.

We employ over 4,000 dedicated members of staff who deliver services from more than 90 locations, working in approximately 150 teams across a geographical region of 2,200 miles, for a population of approximately 1.8million people.

We are passionate about promoting good mental health and wellbeing. We strive to use the expertise and resources within our organisation, and through our partnerships, to deliver high quality services that are safe and focused on people's recovery. Our staff are pivotal in everything we do and we are committed to involving them fully in the development of the Trust and our services.

This is an exciting post for an experienced and committed mental health practitioner to be part of a regional health service for military Veterans and those leaving the forces.

Due to an increase in our funding we are looking to build our specialist team working across primary and secondary care covering the whole of the South West, including Devon, Cornwall, Dorset, Gloucestershire and Somerset as well as those areas covered by Avon & Wiltshire Partnership NHS Trust.

The team is part of a wider service that also covers the South Central area of England.  This post will be based across Gloucestershire and Bristol.

The role will involve specialist assessment, brief interventions and consultation/liaison with other statutory and non-statutory services. You must be an experienced clinician, an excellent communicator, have a flexible approach to your work and be enthusiastic about developing the service for veterans.

An armed forces background is not essential but may be helpful, as would an understanding of issues facing ex-forces personnel.
