Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust (AWP) provides inpatient and community-based mental health care for people living in Bath and North East Somerset (B&NES), Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Swindon and Wiltshire. Poppy ward is an 18 mixed bedded unit based on the Green Lane site in Devizes. The ward has male and female wings with separate lounge and gardens and a large central lounge and dining area. Rooms for reflection, families, meetings and occupational therapies along with an extra care area including seclusion are available. The MDT prides its self on having good working relationships with colleagues from other teams the third sector and statutory agencies. Service user and carer involvement is integral to developing services and maintaining quality standards.

We are looking for motivated and experienced or newly qualified Band 5 nurses who wish to work with adults of working age in an Acute Psychiatric care setting. 

RMN’s on Poppy Ward work as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team of health care professionals to ensure that the clinical, environmental and social needs of our service users are met. We put huge emphasis on working collaboratively with individuals to empower them in their recovery and enable them to move through the care pathway. The ward prides itself on delivering a therapy based model of care providing a holistic and needs led approach.

As well as Poppy Ward you will have the opportunity to work alongside teams such as the Place of Safety, Early Interventions, CMHT', ECT, Intensive services and Primary Care Liason who are all based on this site.

We are able to provide a comprehensive Preceptorship package for newly qualified RMN’s and have opportunities for experienced staff to undertake specialist link roles of particular interest and develop their clinical skills to enhance career progression. We consider this to be an excellent opportunity for newly qualified members of staff or staff returning to practice.

All RMN’s on Poppy Ward are actively encouraged to undertake the accredited post registration Mentorship course and will play a vital part in service and clinical quality development for the ward. Support and supervision for all staff is a fundamental part of the culture of the ward and individuals are actively encouraged to seek out learning opportunities within the Trust as a whole.

The post requires flexible shift working, including rotation onto night shifts. Part –time working may be considered for suitable applicants.
