Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust (AWP) provides inpatient and community-based mental health care for people living in Bath and North East Somerset (B&NES), Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Swindon and Wiltshire. We also provide specialist services extending throughout the south west.

We employ over 4,000 dedicated members of staff who deliver services from more than 90 locations, working in approximately 150 teams across a geographical region of 2,200 miles, for a population of approximately 1.8million people.

We are passionate about promoting good mental health and wellbeing. We strive to use the expertise and resources within our organisation, and through our partnerships, to deliver high quality services that are safe and focused on people's recovery. Our staff are pivotal in everything we do and we are committed to involving them fully in the development of the Trust and our services.

BLUEBELL UNIT Health Base Place of Safety

Bluebell recently won the AWP award for Patient Safety.  This is a major achievement for a unit that has only been fully functional for 10 months!

Our recent CQC report has highlighted that the team is effective and caring and the report further highlighted that all areas have improved significantly from when it was a 1 bedded POS.  We are now graded as Good in all areas by the CQC.  It you think you can support and improve this we would love you to join our brilliant team and become part of the Bluebell family!

We are looking to recruit a driven and passionate mental health nurse to work in the newly developed Centralised Place of Safety Service at Green Lane Hospital in Wiltshire. The Centralised Place of Safety service is a new purpose built, specifically designed unit which facilitates all Section 136/ 135 admissions for East of the Trust.

You will be joining a dedicated multi-disciplinary team specialised in the assessment and management of persons experiencing mental health crisis. This will be an opportunity to contribute to the development of a Gold Standard National Model for the provision of crisis care.

The Centralised Place of Safety also includes a dedicated CAMHs suite for the new Wiltshire wide NHS England Place of Safety specification and pathway. As such we have been involved in the formulation of and have been able to build the service around this transformational guidance.

The nursing team will consist of a Modern Matron, Ward Manager, two Clinical Charge Nurses, seven Staff Nurses and seven Health Care Support Workers. There will be opportunities for close working with other agencies including those from Social Services, CAMHS and the general medical setting (A&E).

For all new members of the team you will benefit from a comprehensive training package designed to support the development of highly specialised and skilled Place of Safety practitioners. Apply now to benefit fully from this significant training and development investment. It’s important that you have an understanding of multidisciplinary services and the challenges that face people with mental health problems. We want to employ staff that are passionate about mental health, who believe in our recovery model and who will act as advocates for the reduction of stigma in our community. You must have an excellent understanding of safeguarding and how to work within professional boundaries. Roles are challenging, stimulating and diverse. We believe that we can offer you something different from other Trusts – if you are interested in this unique opportunity apply now.

Progression and further training are offered to the right candidate if career progression is wanted.
