Band 6 Charge Nurse

Are you interested in helping people with Dementia ? Are you kind? Can you inspire those around you? Do you lead by example? Are you forward thinking? Do you want to be part of AWPs 2020 Team of The Year?

If so – Amblescroft South Ward, Salisbury needs you.

Amblescroft South Ward is a purpose built 20 bedded short term Dementia assessment unit based in Salisbury.

Our highly motivated team is seeking an experienced Registered Mental Health nurse with a demonstrable experience in the assessment and treatment of people with Dementia. This is an active, enjoyable and rewarding Charge Nurse role within a team applying person centred assessment for people experiencing changes in needs due to their illness.

Working alongside colleagues from Psychology, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and the Care Home Liaison services, you will be maintaining and developing further a culture that puts the person’s feelings at the forefront of their care.

The role itself requires you to work alongside charge nurse colleagues to plan, provide, communicate and evaluate the care outlined within each person’s behavioural support plan. Alongside providing direct care you will be overseeing admission, performance compliance and discharge planning in line with the Care Programme Approach.

You will model best practice to other staff and provide support through supervision, training and appraisal. Above all the role requires you to have a genuine desire to promote assessment services of the highest quality for people with Dementia.

We would welcome applications from individuals with experience in both working with people with Dementia and team supervision. You will be supporting new employees through full induction, training and supervision and also promoting comprehensive preceptorship for newly qualified staff. Experience in family work, mentorship, legislation and research would be advantageous.

Our team works within a modern purpose built environment within the medieval cathedral city of Salisbury. The city has excellent road, railbus and coach links to London, Stonehenge, Bath and the South Coast, excellent 'park and ride' facilities, and a great network of pedestrian and cycle paths to explore the surrounding countryside.
