Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust (AWP) provides inpatient and community-based mental health care for people living in Bath and North East Somerset (B&NES), Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Swindon and Wiltshire. We also provide specialist services extending throughout the south west.

We employ over 4,000 dedicated members of staff who deliver services from more than 90 locations, working in approximately 150 teams across a geographical region of 2,200 miles, for a population of approximately 1.8million people.

We are passionate about promoting good mental health and wellbeing. We strive to use the expertise and resources within our organisation, and through our partnerships, to deliver high quality services that are safe and focused on people's recovery. Our staff are pivotal in everything we do and we are committed to involving them fully in the development of the Trust and our services.

We are looking for innovative, motivated and enthusiastic Registered Mental Health Nurses whom have the passion, commitment and therapeutic skills to deliver compassionate and high quality care to individuals who are experiencing a crisis in their mental and emotional health and wellbeing.

Ashdown is a 9 bedded male, Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit that supports individuals with the highest level of mental health needs that currently require intensive nursing intervention and a safe and caring environment. We are one of 4 psychiatric specific wards on the modern and well established site of Fountain Way; located centrally in the thriving Cathedral city of Salisbury.

RMN’s on Ashdown work as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team of health care professionals to ensure that the clinical, environmental and social needs of our service users are met. We put huge emphasis on working collaboratively with individuals to empower them in their recovery and enable them to move through the care pathway.

We are able to provide a comprehensive Preceptorship package for newly qualified RMN’s and have opportunities for experienced staff to undertake specialist link roles of particular interest and develop their clinical skills to enhance career progression.

All RMN’s on Ashdown are actively encouraged to undertake the accredited post registration Mentorship course and will play a vital part in service and clinical quality development for the ward. Support and supervision for all staff is a fundamental part of the culture of the ward and individuals are actively encouraged to seek out learning opportunities throughout the Fountain Way site and the Trust as a whole.
