Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust (AWP) provides inpatient and community-based mental health care for people living in Bath and North East Somerset (B&NES), Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Swindon and Wiltshire. Applications are invited for the post of full time Specialty doctor working within the Memory Service, which provides a specialist assessment and diagnostic service, together with on-going regular monitoring. The aim of the service is to promote understanding and ownership of the disease and its implications and promote independence. The team consists of experienced nurses and Assistant Psychologists as well as excellent administrators and are based at the Victoria Centre in Swindon..
The Memory Service has links with the Kingshill Research Centre, one of the largest clinical trials units for Dementia care, which has been carrying out clinical trials for more than 20 years.
This post provides excellent opportunities for professional development and offers the chance to broaden knowledge and learn new clinical skills in this specialist field. The post holder will receive weekly Consultant supervision. There are no out of hours on call responsibilities with this post. You will be experienced in the assessment and treatment of psychiatric problems in older people, including Dementia, and be aware of current research and psychological therapies. You should demonstrate outstanding communication skills and be flexible according to the changing demands of clinical priorities. The ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team is essential.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
