Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust (AWP) provides inpatient and community-based mental health care for people living in Bath and North East Somerset (B&NES), Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Swindon and Wiltshire. We also provide specialist services extending throughout the south west.

We employ over 4,000 dedicated members of staff who deliver services from more than 90 locations, working in approximately 150 teams across a geographical region of 2,200 miles, for a population of approximately 1.8million people.

We are passionate about promoting good mental health and wellbeing. We strive to use the expertise and resources within our organisation, and through our partnerships, to deliver high quality services that are safe and focused on people's recovery. Our staff are pivotal in everything we do and we are committed to involving them fully in the development of the Trust and our services.

We are looking to appoint a highly skilled and motivated Specialist Mental Health Practitioner to join our established Mental Health Liaison Team at Weston General Hospital.

As part of this role you will participate in the assessment and short term intervention of individuals aged 16+ presenting to the A+E department and across the general hospital.

You will have excellent communication skills, be able to work autonomously, and have an interest in supporting those experiencing both physical and mental health needs.

In order to promote the early detection and identification of mental health symptoms you will be required to provide training and education to healthcare staff within the acute hospital and offer information and management advice on mental health presentations.

If you are a Mental Health Nurse, Social Worker, or Occupational Therapist with 2 years post qualification experience who enjoys working as part of a team and is seeking a new challenge we would welcome your application.

This is a temporary post to cover maternity leave, initially a six month contract with potential to be extended to one year. The service operating hours are 8am-8pm 7 days per week.
