Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust (AWP) is a significant provider of high quality mental health services across a core catchment area covering Bath and North East Somerset (B&NES), Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Swindon and Wiltshire. The Trust also provides specialist services for a wider catchment extending throughout the south west.

Our aim is to enable and empower people to reach their potential and to live fulfilling lives through providing recovery and reablement focused services that yield positive outcomes for our service users and their carers.

Specifically, The Trust provides services for people with mental health needs, with needs relating to drug or alcohol dependency and mental health services for people with learning disabilities. We also provide secure mental health services and work with the criminal justice system.

Increasingly AWP provides treatment and care in people's own homes and other community settings, reflecting the preferences of our service users. Our community services are supported by high quality inpatient services that provide short term assessment, treatment and care.


 

North Somerset Early Intervention in Psychosis Service

The provision of Early Intervention Services is a priority for the Trust. This is an exciting opportunity for practitioners with experience and enthusiasm in delivering psychosocial interventions to contribute to the provision of services for young people and their families. New NICE Guidelines ensure this is continually developing and forward thinking area of mental health service provision.
The team provides a comprehensive range of interventions to individuals who experience or who are at high risk of experiencing first episode psychosis.
The service consists of a Band 7 Team Manager, Band 8a Clinical Psychologist, three Band 6 Community Mental Health Practitioners, two Band 4 Mental Health Workers.

Band 6 – Community Mental Health Practitioner, Early Intervention in Psychosis. Full time - 37.5 hours.

The post involves the care coordination of up to 15 people experiencing their first episode of psychosis. You will be an RMN, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker familiar with delivering psychosocial interventions to individuals experiencing symptoms associated with psychosis and their families. This will involve one to one, group work and co-working with families. You will be committed to a recovery based approach promoting social inclusion. You will be enthusiastic about making links with colleagues as well as other agencies and have an interest in talking to groups of people about psychosis. You will be working closely with the other Early Intervention Workers and members of the local Recovery and Intensive Support Teams and the inpatient unit. This post will be based at the Coast Resource Centre in Worle, Weston-super-Mare. This is close to motorway links (M5) making it accessible from Bristol.
