The Older Adult Inpatient services in North Somerset are looking for a Locum Specialty Doctor (with Special Interest in Teaching) to join their team. This is covering a 10 bed functional ward and regional 14 bed Organic ward.

This post is based at the Long Fox unit and is a fixed term contract for 12 months, starting from August 2019.

The post is well supported and would suit career psychiatrists on a break from training rotations. The post provides excellent opportunities for professional development in old age psychiatry and offers the chance to broaden knowledge and learn new clinical skills, including supporting the consultant with running ward rounds, MHA work and CPAs.

It includes one day per week attached to the Department of Medical Education for teaching fellow activities, with ample opportunity locally to support both the post graduate tutor and the Clinical Leadership Mentor for AWP who is also based at Long Fox Unit.

There is no on-call with these posts but there may be the opportunity to join the out of hours full shift rota. There will be one hour of protected supervision with the supervising Consultant each week. There are also weekly journal clubs and academic meetings the post holder can attend.

The wards are also supported by 1 wte FY1; 1 wte FY2 and a 1 wte GPVTS
